Where does creativity take you?

Today I'm wondering, are you like me...?
You get huge bursts of creativity, ideas flowing, great plans for the future...
And then out of the blue something knocks you off the creative band wagon and you've suddenly lost your flair?
I'm in the bursting stage at the moment and loving it. I wonder if some scientist has done a study to see what generates creativity and the best ways to stay in the peek of it.

I love the quote above which I found on pintrest here.

But I guess in the end, life and stress just gets in the way of creativity sometimes doesn't it.

That's why I love my little business, it works with the ups and downs...

But when your full time 9-5 job is designing and you're in that flat stage I used to find it really hard to get excited about designing for a client or product that you're really not that 'into'.

Anyway, I'd love to know your thoughts on the topic, do you have your creative ups and downs? How do you get your mojo back when you're in a rut?
Do you have lots of creative dreams and plans bursting at the seams?

Please share!

And have a lovely day,

  1. yes i totally understand where you are coming from...sometimes i get days where i have lots of ideas and inspirations and cant wait to share them with everyone..then there are days where i just want to pack all my paintbrushes away..but in the end art is what i love most and being creative makes me happy :) xx

  2. Totally agree honey...and Yes..sometimes timing isnt always right..Im either bursting with ideas and cant work on them straight away..or have the free time to get creative and dont feel inspired at all.
For me ..what works...is constantly feeding the creative soul, visiting places that inspire, reading books or blogs that inspire, and writing down ideas as I think of them.
There have been days when I have been totally inspired...and have my mojo..but create crap..lol..its horrible..lol

  3. so know what you mean - i find i take ages to do plans that arent that exciting (like electrical plans) even if something is easy, of its a bit boring it tends to drag out! A kitchen or wardrobe is much faster however! ;)

  4. Janette you have described me to a tee!! I have notebooks full of ideas waiting to be executed and many projects waiting to be completed. Unfortunately there is never enough hours in the day or days in the week for me, but I just slowly chip away at them.

  5. gosh , that is so true.. at the moment Im not feeling the creative juices flowing ..maybe being sick has something to do with it (?)
But when the mojo is there, there's tons of sketches and ideas flying around.

  6. I too go through phases - sometimes I have so many ideas zipping around in my head, I don't know where to start :)

  7. Oh, Janette! I find the whole concept of creativity so intriguing. Until I started blogging, I had no idea I had a latent creative side. Now that I've received so much encouragement from gorgeous souls like you, I never have enough time in the day to do everything I'd like to! Mind you, having the 3 pixies about probably has something to do with it...J x

  8. Totally! I have so many ideas, and I have resorted to making a list! It's helping somewhat but I keep reading wonderful blogs and get more and more ideas all the time. I struggle between what I should make for 'business' and what I want to make just for fun & for family. I have two lists :-) I also go through the downs though. Like last night I went to bed at 7:30 cause I was so tired! Other nights I could sew until midnight because its such a rush to create something! No idea how to get from one to the other. Agree though, happy to be in a business that allows for it :-)

  9. I have so many ideas and DIY things i want to try and i am going to be still at it when i am 90+. I find pinterest a great place to find ideas and also keep track of things i want to try (i am not paid by Pinterest for this advertising - but maybe i should suggest it to them!)I do tend to get distracted by personal projects and not enough "business" projects. Hmmm maybe i should work on that!

  10. Hi, I came across your post, maybe a bit too late. :P Yes, I am going thru that right now, I think I might have lost my flair for drawing ever since I started to teach and my life has been curriculum and kids for the past 4 years. I can't bring myself to take out my old sketchbook and put more inspirations in them although I have tons of ideas running in my head all the time. I am really wondering how do I get back my love for drawing. I remember when I was young. I'd draw on almost anything, back of a bus seat, on tables, toilet cubicles and now, I just can't seem to find it...
