My Mothers Day Present

Here is my Mother's Day present that I've been so excited about! It's a gorgeous book called 'Printing by Hand' by Lena Corwin and it is full of everything you need to know about surface printing by hand.

It has step by step photos showing you everything you need to do for a range of different projects. This one is a hand printed Tablecloth and Napkins.

This one is Paperless Wallpaper using handmade stencils - it looks fantastic!

This one is a screen printed apron!

There are sooooo many fantastic projects like these and they even have a little pattern envelope in the back with the designs she's used so you can trace them and use them in your own projects.

Now I just have to find the time to read this gorgeous book and then the time to do some of these projects! I am so excited about learning these new crafts. I have used most of the techniques before but no for application onto fabric so it is very exciting for me!

Here is a Design*Sponge review and interview with Lena Corwin about the book if you want to find out more.

I hope you have a fantastic Monday lovely ladies (and men... if there are any out there reading this),

Kitchen Blind

I've been thinking of making a roman blind for our kitchen window. I've never made a blind before but I'd like to try. We have no curtains or blinds or anything on the window at the moment and never have... because when we moved in we immediately took down the old fashioned lace, cafe style curtains which made the kitchen look like something out of 1983. So it would be nice to gain some privacy, especially at night when I'm cleaning up the kitchen in my PJ's. Also I think it would give our 'not-so-stunning' kitchen a more polished look.

So here's what I'm thinking. I'm loving the lattice pattern fabrics at the moment and here are a few I really like.

Otherwise a Chevron pattern would look great too...

What do you think, lattice or chevron? I wonder if I'll be brave enough to attempt it!!! Stay tuned.

I hope you have a lovely day and thank you for stopping by!
