Hair advice PLEASE...

Hi everyone, I'm going to the hairdresser tomorrow and I need a bit of help please...

I'm considering toning down the blonde and going more of an auburn shade.

Basically because I'm sick of the blonde growing out and my natural shade is more of an auburn now so I'm think that with Baby B soon to arrive it will be more low maintainance.
But I've been blonde for EVER and I'm worried I will feel a bit 'not myself'.

Amy Adams has auburn hair, light skin and blue eyes like me, her eyebrows are also quite light like mine... what do you think?

Or I could keep a bit of the blonde on top like Jen has - she has quite dark eye brows and skin though.

This chick has similar tones to me and her hair is more of a proper red/orange tone - too different???

Ok, here is a very unglam pic of me so you can see where I'm coming from:

Note the regrowth
The auburn underneath

So I'd love some advice - stick to the same or try the auburn, with or without some blonde on top???
Thank you lovely ladies!!!

  1. I am sooooooooooooo not the best person to offer hair advice (unglamorous and can go weeks without blow drying my own hair) but I'd vote for the Auburn tones....I think you'd look great with Auburn low lights and a few lighter highlights to keep the blondeness in play :)
    Have fun!!!!

  2. I agree with Lib, I love Amy Adams' hair in that photo. I'd go along those lines with maybe some subtle blonder highlights? But then I am someone who avoids hairdressers and sometimes even forgets to brush my own hair!

  3. Please, please try the auburn Janette. What have you got to lose? You could always put highlights in later if you feel the need. Enjoy your visit to the salon...I have one on Saturday...love going to the hairdresser: )

  4. Yes I agree with above. Auburn can be a pretty colour with blonde highlights. Cheers SpecialK XoXo

  5. I must admit I'm fairly lazy when it comes to personal maintenance - hair, nails etc. When I'm a granny I'm going to get a Judi Dench hair style so I won't even need to brush it anymore. But you have beautiful hair! Anything will look good. If I were you I'd go auburn. I've always wanted to try it but my Mr Neat is not very partial to the idea. So why not go for it!

  6. I would give you advice....... cept, on a whim I ducked into a hairdresser and ended up walking out with a hideous 'pob' and will have to wear my hair in a little paint-brush pony for the next two months til I grow it out!! OMG worst.haircut. ever.

    Good luck, my love!!! xx

  7. Auburn all the way honey...it is SO in right now and I think you would ace it no worries...then if you feel its not totally you..then perhaps add some blonde highlights..but I think you might surprise yourself and fall inlove with the new look..and your right....the less maintenance the better with another bubs on the way. I say go for it...I think you would look amazing! ; )

  8. I've actually just gotten back from the hairdressers myself but I'm boring and stick to the same old foils every time :) I say go for the auburn but add a few little blonde highlights on top so you don't feel too different. I added some darker foils a few years back for something different as I was sick of the regrowth look too and wanted to add a bit more natural colour to the mix. Can't wait to see what it looks like. You have gorgeous hair! x

  9. I think an auburn would look lovely and you could always add some lighter foils that way it won't be such a huge change. xx

  10. Ok Janette, this ones right up my alley because I am a hairdresser!!!!
if you visit the same hairdresser all of the time he/she will give you great advice because they know you as a client, but being pregnant generally changes the rules. Often when pregnant at the time when you become really sick of your new body shape you will often opt for a change of hair to feel better, it usually results in one of those "hormonal" emotional melt downs, so NO good hairdresser would advise this. I would recomend a mix of auburn & blonde foils, perhaps a dark blonde & a lighter blonde, nothing to radical, to give you that slow progression towards going a little darker.
Good Luck, I cant wait to see what you end up doing!!
