Ever wished you could step back in time?
Which decade do you feel you have an affinity with?
For me it's the 1950's, it's not that I would want to live in the 1950's but I have just always loved everything about it.
The fashion and style... my favourite movies are old 1950's movies, think Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, musicals and Alfred Hitchcock...
I love the old cars.... they just don't make them like they used to!
Perhaps it's because people displayed the courtesy and old fashioned values which seem to be a bit lost today.
Maybe it's because my parents were born in this decade, or because my house was built in the 1950's...
I don't know why, it's probably because I dream of being like this lady above, just lounging around in my dress made of meters and meters of silk or chiffon wearing diamonds looking demure and gorgeous... unlike the outfit I am currently decked out in which is my trackie's and uggs :-)
Have a lovely Wednesday everyone,
I would have loved to been a teenager in the 60's & not just a little girl. The era of JFK & Jacki O. Imagine having her wardrobe with all those iconic designer labels! Not to mention music by The Beatles, Beach Boys, Mama's & Papa's, CCR etc. The big bouffant hairstyles & heavy mascared eyelashes! The 60's was a decade to be remembered, unlike the 80's which goes down in the history for all the wrong reasons!!! (Sorry about that any 80's children reading this). illy the cuddly xo
ReplyDeleteLove the fashion, style and grace of this era, but I couldn't give up my washing machines, dishwasher and computer! Maybe just a return to a more gentle time would be good though. But I have to disagree with illy the cuddly, as a fully-fleged child of the 80's I love that era! Not the forgettable fashion and hairstyles, of which I was guilty of sporting quite a few, but the music - still love it to death! K xx
ReplyDeletei totally agree with you i love the 1950's everything about there style and the classic cars ...Love It too XX
ReplyDeleteThe older I get the more apparent it becomes. I should have been born in the 50s!!
ReplyDeleteI love creating a beautiful home, looking after my man, baking, making things and I can't wait to have a family, lol!! I can almost hear myself say 'forget the career', shock horror!
Oh dear I must stop thinking like this! I agree about the cars, having been surrounded by old things growing up - they certainly don't make them like they used to!!
I agree the 50's were a beautiful era. I love fashion and style of those times. I also LOVE Audrey Hepburn and her movies.
ReplyDeleteI only posted on facebook the other day, that the 50's is so my era! Gorgeous A line dresses nipped at the waist....love
ReplyDeleteI agree totally. I am trakky and uggs on the outside but Audrey Hepburn on the inside.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing we have in common my lovely friend! I would also choose the 1950s for all the reasons you have listed!! I have to say ditto to Deb's message above....me too:) Such a gorgeous post Janette, I LOVED looking at all the images, thanks for sharing:) Hugs ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteOh I totally agree. I could have lived in an Audrey Hepburn movie but I can't imagine how I would ever have the neat hair all those lovely ladies had!!
ReplyDeleteLovely post - for shallow old me it's all about the dresses - but given my "a" cup size- I would have just hated it and would probably be better suited to the flapper look in the thirties!!
ReplyDeleteHaha. trackies & ugs. Ditto to that. But I know exactly what you mean, you just want to feel like the epitome of femininity sometimes! Thanks for sharing these lovely images.

I would have chosen the 50's too Janette - such elegant fashion and I can quite relate to the whole homemaking thing. Also, Grace Kelly is one of my all time favourite style icons :)
