Mother & Son outfits.... oh dear!

Do you find that you dress your child in a similar outfit to you and you didn't even plan it?

I do. I think it's because I'll be in a certain mood for a certain colour or type of outfit and once Will and I are dressed and ready to go out the door I realise that we look very matchy-matchy but today has to take the cake... have a look at us fooling around with the 'photobooth' camera on my Macbook.

Seriously, I didn't realise what I'd done! I got Will changed into his Navy & White strip top and navy trousers with his navy and white leather moccasins (soooo cute) then put him to bed for his morning sleep.

I then went about getting myself ready for the day, dressing in my Navy & White strip top and jeans.
When he woke I went into his room and looked down at us both and thought 'I better not be doing this when he's 16 or he'll kill me'. hehehehe.

Do you ever do that too or am I a freaky mum?

  1. You're a freak! LOL!!! Just kidding, you both look adorable and I think we all do it occassionally and more so when the kids are younger and do not have the ability to choose for themselves. I would be more concerned if Will chose to dress like you when he was 16. ; )

  3. That is SOOOO funny! You're like twins :) While I do often buy things for Grace which are often fabrics I'd like to wear, we don't tend to wear similar outfits as when you have a girl, it is hard to get away from pink and pink is a colour I don't wear a lot myself. Gorgeous photos of you and Will - hope you're having a great day x

  5. Gorgeousness personified Janette! Oh my goodness you two really are adorable!! So sweet, Will doesn't seem to mind so I think you got away with it, lol!

p.s. loved your suggestions for present hinting, being obvious is the only way to go for us females it seems! Even though I put the laptop in his eating spot at breakfast he still didn't get it!!

  6. You both look adorable like that! Nothing wrong with it.. Soon enough he'll be telling you what he wants to wear and advising you on your outfits..mine do! I don't dress the kids like me, but sometimes like each other - they're only 18 months apart, that's my excuse..I just got a new MacBook and the kids and I had so much fun with photo booth this morning, isn't it great?..Rachaelxx

  7. I love it! Make the most of it while you can I say. As my girls grow up, I'm more worried about a mutton dressed as lamb appearance which wouldn't be nearly as cute as you and your little one!

  9. Too funny, although I always thought it was mums with daughters who did this sort of thing! And I can tell you now, as the mum of a 16 year old son, there's no way you'll be dressing alike then - unless you're ready to show off your guns in a singlet (as tight as possible!) and shorts - gotta rock the bod, you know! 10. That's really cute. There have been times when Lyn and I have dressed very similarly but when we realise he wont let us leave the house until one of us has changed. We will hopefuly be one of those old couples wearing matching tracksuits!
As you say, I think it's ok for you and Will to look similar now but yes, maybe not when he's 16!

  11. Of course it's not freaky: it's sweet and cute, right?! I say that because I often dress one of the boys in a similar look to my own, and some days I dress all three alike. We recently had a day of all wearing grey tops with blue/denim pants. Four little peas in a pod... I think it's sweet for now, but very true that it would be just plain weird later in life.

  12. Very cute now and I don't think you need to worry about when Will is older... I am with Kerri's comments! :-)

  13. It's cute. We do it all the time by accident. I think we just buy the stuff we like for our kids. I always think its hysterical if we get to a function before we realize we are all coordinated. Very cute photos.

  14. You are totally freaky! No, not really, I absolutely have those days, and whats more embarassing is, I have two girls, so when it happens it's always the three of us! You two look gorgeous, really sweet photos.. and I love navy and white stripes!

  15. that's too funny luv... because Fern and I had a similar moment today, too! In our case - jeans, with a red patterned top! I see nothing wrong with it... unless you dress him in a matching mummy-son LBD!

  17. I have 5 sisters and my mom dressed us all alike when we were kids (matching dresses for every holiday) so I think you two are adorable! Will is such a happy baby!

  18. I do this ALL the time with my son! We went to Coles the other week in matching tartan shirts! We looked even more ridiculous due to the fact that I'm from Glasgow! I hadn't realised until a bumped into a girlfriend and she asked if it was "Scotland Day" jokingly!
