It lives in the study and was my Grandpa's old book shelf. We use it to store so much but the study will become Will's room early next year so I'm thinking of ideas to pretty it up. What do you think about painting it white then putting a pattern behind the shelves which would match his room colour? Something very similar to the above picture.
As you can see it is literally over flowing with books and things at the moment but I picture the shelves with a few of Will's favourite books and toys displayed nicely. What do you think? Would I regret painting it?
Here is some more inspiration...

Has anyone got any other 'pimp my bookshelf' ideas??
Have a great day everyone,
Hi Janette - we painted an old brown cheap Ikea bookshelf white and then the back section is a sky blue and it now lives in our sons nursery. I wish I'd thought of putting wallpaper on there now!
ReplyDeleteHi Janette, I love that look, fabulous idea.x
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!! I think it will look great white with wallpaper behind the bookcase. Can't wait to see what you do.

LOVE this idea...and I think it would look super gorgeous for Wills room. Is it veneer? if so might be easier to spray paint it. Otherwise..yes..I say go for it and paint it white with a really jazzy colourful wallpaper background...that would look awesome. Even a fun kids wallpaper would work fab. I will email you some pics I have filed for inspiration ; ) Hope you are feeling well sweety and the headaches have subsided x
ReplyDeleteLove it - i don't think you will regret it at all!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! I've got a very country looking dresser that could do with modernising, and this has given me lots of ideas. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of that first bookshelf, the wallpaper gives a cool retro feel. I don't think you'll regret turning your bookshelf white. So fresh and light and it will go with everything :o)
ReplyDeleteGo for it Janette. Perhaps Will can help choose the pattern?
ReplyDeleteStunning ideas! Love them.
