Weekend away town tour

We had a fantastic weekend away. Glen took Friday off work and we travelled down to our family's holiday house (a little old beach cottage) down the south coast on Thursday for three days. My parents are spending the week down there and it was so nice to chill out with them and have three other sets of hands help look after William. I think he's teething and he's very clingy so it was great to have a bit of a break from the 24/7 baby-toddler demands.

On Friday Mum and Dad looked after Will and Glen and I took a drive inland about an hour to a little town called 'Kangaroo Valley' for lunch and window shopping. I hadn't been there for years and Glen had never been, so it was nice to visit somewhere new together. It's a beautiful old historic town which is nestled in a valley surrounded by hills of gum trees and luscious almost rain forest type bush.



Here is the famous Kangaroo Valley stone bridge. Only one car fits across at a time and it feels very rickety with wooden planks below you. There are old buildings which are now shops and cafes. The town has a very colonial feel with an old court house, post office, pub, church and little school etc.

This shop above 'The Nostalgia Factory' was my absolute favourite. I could have spent the whole day in there with lots of antiques and collectibles, beautiful housewares and kids knitted clothes.

On the way back to the house we stopped at our usual day trip town of Berry. We always go to Berry and Glen and I got engaged at a little coffee plantation B&B there more than 7 years ago now!

I chose my Mother's Day present there at the greatest little sewing shop called 'Sew and Tell'. I won't tell you what I got (it's packed away till Sunday) but I'm very excited. I told Glen I could easily spend $1,000 at Sew and Tell so I think he was quite happy to have gotten out of there with just the one purchase :)
