William's Party: Owl theme

On Saturday we celebrated William's 2nd Birthday with an Owl themed birthday party at home.

Here are some pics of the special day.

I kept the colours simple with a blue and green theme.
We had a simple sweets table for the kids and a more savoury table for the adults.

I asked the lovely Naomi of Taylored4baby to make Will's owl shirt, how cute is it! Naomi was wonderful to deal with and made the shirt in blues and greens to match the party colours. Thanks so much Naomi!

The kids had bubble wands to play with.
And I made owls using the white paper lanterns I had left over from my 30th. Strung up bunting and made blue tissue paper pom poms to hang above the sweets table.

We had pass the parcel and lots of yummy treats.

The kids did craft, making their own Owl hats from paper plates. I cut out the plates and attached ribbon and boggley eyes, they coloured them in and stuck the feathers on, they looked so cute in their hats!

I made the party bags from white paper bags and used scrap booking paper to make little owl cards with blue and white ribbon. My friend Oli bought the brightly coloured whoopie cakes and I cheated and bought the little cupcakes.

Will had such a fun time and got stuck into the chips and everything sweet (as he's not usually allowed sweets). Kate from Another Donkey Design sent me a link for the recipe of the Owl cupcake cake I made above, it was quite easy and all the kids loved the cupcakes.

The whole day was so much fun, the weather JUST held out for us so the kids could run around and play.

And a serendipitous end to the day occurred when Glen was out the front of our house at night and a car pulled up. It was the people from WIRES and they were looking for a big gum tree to release a Tawny Frogmouth owl (well they are not actually classed as owls but they hoot and look exactly like an owl). So they released it into our gum tree and they said listen out for his hoot. His name is Attila as he tended to bite his rescuers. So we ended our Owl themed day with our own Owl being delivered to our tree! How cool is that!

Have a great day,

  8. Love the colors and the owls. I have been crazy over these owls. I saw the cake in Family Fun magazine.....I might have mentioned that before. Love the hats. Was it a coincidence for the owl to be released. If it was, that was perfect. If it wasn't that was really a great idea. Happy Birthday.
