2nd Birthday party planning

So my little bubba is turning 2 at the end of next month!!! (and I know he's not a bubba any more but I think I will call him my bubba till he's 50 or something :)

So anyway I'm thinking of doing an Owl theme party as he LOVES owls at the moment.
All birds are Owls... he spots a bird and says 'Oooooowweeell' and I'm like 'Um no Will, that's an Indian Minor Bird' hehehe.

So I'm thinking of doing a blue and green theme with owls. I've already bought a few things, table cloth, blue plates, blue and green cups, blue and white stripe paper straws, blue and white spotted serviettes and blue and green bunting.

I will attempt to make an owl cake and I was thinking of using all the white paper lanterns I have from my 30th and stick eyes, triangle beak and wings onto them so they look like big owls flying all over the deck. What do you think?

I don't want to go quite so over board or have as many people as we had for Will's 1st birthday which you can see here.

But I hope it will be fun. So if you have any ideas for me for owl themed things or games for toddlers that would be great!

Have a great day,

  1. He's two? My goodness that went fast! And yes, you will still be calling him your bubba when he's fifty. My seventeen year old gets called Bub by my eldest daughter all the time - although we draw the line at calling it out at rugby (unlike another mum whose name I won't mention!!) Not a good look, and not at all popular with the son :) Hope your little Will and his owls have a fab time, and looking forward to seeing all the pics. K xx

  8. Pin the beak on the owl? Owl and the pussycat, pin the sail on the boat. (or blutack the item on the item rather than pin). You could premake some owl bits eg wings, eyes, feet and beaks and get the children to glue the bits onto a round paper plate. Or make most of it and just get them to put the eyes on. You could do some pasting with feathers. Sounds like lots of fun.

  14. Love the idea of an owl theme - 'Hoot' is extremely popular with Grace too and she has a little stuffed pink owl she carries around. I think your lantern idea sounds fabulous, can't wait to see those hanging owls!! We're doing a smaller party for Grace this year too, I'm thinking of a garden theme for her since she loves being outdoors. Will let you know if I come across any 'owl' ideas x

Owl party does sound sweet, and of course you will be cheezily suggesting on the invitations that guests will "have a hoot of a time!" Im sure Ive seen some amazing pics of owl themed parties, will see if I can dig any up for you and shoot them over! x
