I need to get my party mojo back..... HELP!

You know how it is, you get all excited about something then after a while the excitement dies down.... that's how I'm feeling about my 30th Birthday party which is just over a month away and I've done nothing about it!!!

No invites, no guest list, nothing bought..... the only thing I've done is decide on the theme and venue. It's going to be the above cocktail party theme at home.

So I googled a few party images to get me back in the party mood...

I might go dress shopping for a cute little cocktail dress...
(If someone could just order me legs like those that would be great too...)

So please help! If you have any great party tips, advice, it would be much appreciated.

Have a lovely day ladies!

  5. Love the colour combo Janette, I think sometimes the planning of the party is the most fun :)We did a cocktail party for both mine and my husbands 30th, we did up little menus for about 4 different cocktails that people could choose from. Food was just nibblies, with a pie warmer in the kitchen to keep the hot food warm without having to remember to get things out of the oven. Only $25 to hire. Do you have any teenage relatives/neighbours that would be happy to act as waiters? You definately need to get a gorgeous party dress, you only turn 30 once! xx

  6. It is going to be a wonderful party Janette. Your inspiration board is fabulous! Buying a gorgeous new dress will be fantastic motivation for you to loose some weight too as well as getting ready for your holiday! I will be thinking of you this week and will try and be better too! xx

  7. I love your mood board and my tip (as an events person) would be to get on to the invitations asap cos that'll make it real and give you the enthusiasm to work on the other parts.

I'd also say to spend a few hours planning your menu and even if you do want to cater yourself, consider hiring some waiters for the night (try your local hospitality college) so you can enjoy yourself. It's well worth the extra cost. You'll knock off the party planning pretty quickly I'm sure.

    WHAT FUN!

  9. I love the black and turquoise colour theme you've gone with Janette - very stylish - those shoes in the second group of images are to die for!! I say you should definitely go and out and treat yourself to a new cocktail dress for the occasion. Can't wait to see what you put together - if I come across anything inspiring or any ideas in my Internet travels I will be sure to let you know xx

  10. My advice? Minimise the amount you have to do both before and during the party. Guests to make their own cocktail concoctions perhaps...although that might be dangerous, and expensive!!

  11. Love the colours Janette. I hired bar/wait staff for mine - well worth it, and had one to staff member to just make the cocktails (depending on numbers). I had a specific cocktail per each hour - for four hours - and these were presented on trays with a name card for the cocktail of the hour. I agree with Cat, write the guest list and get the invites out from there all will follow! Good Luck

  12. well, you have the colour scheme and the theme good to go -- the hard work is surely taken care of! Enlist a couple of creative friend/ family members to help you out - after all, its YOUR birthday, why should you do all the work?? Oh, and get the killer dress first. Once you have that, the rest will seem insignificant... and surely some new shoes will be in order?

  15. Janette...feel excited about your 30th sweetheart!! I loved my 30th..it was the best birthday I ever celebrated. ( this is going back 7 years now...lol) My 30th was a Moulin Rouge/ Chicago theme...because I was crazy about that era at that time..everyone turned up in character ..and it was the best..so much fun!

I recently helped design an outdoor wedding setting..and I can tell you that paper lanterns work a treat..they just add such a great party vibe and lots of colour and are fairly cheap. I also made a ridiculous amount of those paper pom poms..which looked fab..but were a pain to unravel once cut. I would say..keep it simple...and co ordinate your tablewear...plates..serviettes..cutlery etc ..and candles...create a wonderful atmosphere once you hit dark...and of course..music..this is a must...it sets the mood! Hope all or any of these tips help honey...Im sure its going to be a blast xo
