I'm sorry but since when were these Uggs?

It's an outrage! It's just not cricket! Fair dinkum that ain't true blue!

These are apparently the latest Uggs! PLEEEEAAASE! They're not Uggs, I'll show you uggs, they're the pink fluffy slipper boots that spend all of winter either on my feet or at the end of the bed (by the way I am strictly a 'no Uggs outside of the house' person) but I was shocked to see this... take a look fellow Australians.

Yep, check them out at www.uggaustralia.com. I found the first image above when flicking through the latest issue of US Glamour magazine which was my replacement mag that Conde Nast has been sending me since Domino Mag folded last year *sniff sniff, boo hoo* as my subscription is still going.

I guess it shows the power of branding doesn't it. It just doesn't seem right to me.
Ok, I'll get off my soap box now... just had to share!

Take care,

  2. I don't like it when companies try to branch out to areas they are not known for, and I'm with you on Uggs not being allowed outside of the house.

  3. Had to giggle, I too own a pair of pink uggs that live at the foot of my bed and never venture out onto the street. I agree with your feelings. In fact the clog sandals look like a pair of Swedish Hasbeens which I own (very confy and I think they look realy Scandi cool with denim (jeans, shorts or minis). And the sneakers look like a version of Converse sneakers don't they.
Ooops sorry a really long comment!!
    Cheers

  7. This drives me crazy too! I found out a few years ago that Ugg Australia is not actual an Australian company anymore. It's now owned by the American company Dockers. Unfortunately, they also put together a trademark for the word "ugg" and then their lawyers sent out ugly letters to all the little Aussie companies making and selling ugg boots letting them know that they couldn't use the word "ugg" anymore, as it was owned by Dockers (ie Ugg Australia). There was a huge amount of legal to and fro, and I believe that the little guys are now able to use the word Ugg, but there has been a lot of damage in between. And unfortunately, when tourists come to Australia, they seek out the Ugg Australia products thinking they are the "true" uggs... and they are not even Australian! (there were some nasty rumours around that Ugg Australia uggs were made in China, but I can't say if that's true or not). Sorry for the rant!
