5wks today and getting chubby

> My little Lachlan is 5 weeks old today!
>
> He was only due last Tuesday but it feels like he's been with us forever!
>
> Ok, unashamedly proud Mumma here showing off photos... The bath ones were taken last week and the sleeping ones were taken last night.
>
> As you can see he's really putting on the kgs, which is SO exciting for me as I had issues with breastfeeding William and it was quite a disappointing, painful issue for me for quite a while. So to be able to feed Lachie and watch him getting chubby is like a gift!

  1. He is gorgeous! Clever you and I bet William is a great big brother. Breast feeding is definitely a skill and once it is mastered, it is bliss. Can be tricky though cant it? Enjoy Lachlan as you know he will grow so quickly

  2. Congrats he is gorgeous!! I had a very difficult time breast feeding my girl. It was heart wrenching when we decided to just give her formula. I felt horrible but it was the best thing for her and myself. I was so caught up with the pain and struggle of breast feeding that I really only started enjoying motherhood after bottle feeding. I totally agree, whatever works for you and Lachie is the best thing!!

  3. Oh Janette, Lachie is just the sweetest little cherub, so angelic looking and so tiny (you forget how small they once were!!) So glad the feeding is going well for you and he is thriving.

You are SO right, whatever works for you and your bub is the BEST thing. I breastfed Grace until she was 13 months and while initially I had an over-abundance of milk, things then settled down and breastfeeding became such an enjoyable part of my time with her. As you know, with Sophie, I once again had SO much milk and such a fast supply that the doctor said it was 'like putting a hose in your mouth and turning it on' :) Poor Sophie was getting too much milk too quickly which gave her 'lactose overload' on top of already terrible colic. I decided to hang in there until 12 weeks though and fortunately, it all settled down and now breastfeeding my little miss is so enjoyable :)

  5. Oh he is adorable Janette, such a gorgeous, alert little face.
Breastfeeding was definitely a struggle for me first time around. I ended up with a serious bout of mastitis when Angus was 3 weeks old, which saw us both hospitalised for 4 days... while I 'learnt' how to properly feed. After that, it was much better, mind you I did do a comp bottle for every second feed. I fed both of my boys until they were 6 months... but BOTH of them required that top up of formula for about 3 feeds a day. Just little piggy's really,
But I agree, whatever is best for Mama, because at the end of the day, you're the one who needs to feel good and healthy... and sometimes breastfeeding doesn't allow you to feel either of those. Good luck with it all xo

  6. Oh Janette! Lachie is so scrumptious ☺. I am so happy for you that the feeding is working out. I could talk to you for hours about the different experiences I had with the 3 pixies! J x

  7. He is absolutely precious! I'm so glad he's gaining weight. I've just started reading up on breastfeeding and am pretty nervous for how it's going to go for me.

  8. He is so adorable. He still has that newborn look. I loved that stage where they mostly sleep (except at night) and just want to be held.
I may get bombarded if your readers read my post. Breast feeding isn't for everyone. It's been my experience with moms I know that there babies are happier if they are on a bottle. They gain weight faster and are calmer babies. I know that goes against the norm. So many new moms are stressed and you have to be so careful what you eat. Not saying that brest feeding isn't important but I think there is way too much pressure about doing it and that just adds more anxiety. Do what is best for you and your baby.

  9. Oh, you must not put anymore baby pics up! I'm so clucky (we went to a wedding last night and there were about 8 bumps and 6 newies)!

Both boys were different for me too....I have just stopped feeding Charlie this week (14 months, so much easier the 2nd time around).

Oh, and do keep up the baby photos!
