I thought I'd do another 'A corner of my home' post as I haven't done one in a few weeks. This time it is of the hall table which you see as you walk into the house and the little display I have on top of it.
At one end I have my little ceramic birdie and Eiffel tower with my chandelier tile coasters. You may recognise the bird and tower as I've used them as props when shooting my prints before.
On the other end I have a vase with a pillar candle in it, a gold bowl which has a scented candle in it and an old photo in it's original frame of Glen's parents on their wedding day.
And in the middle of the hall table I have my 'Phalaenopsis benth' or Moth Orchid, well it used to be a real 'Phalaenopsis benth' that my sister-in-law gave me but I accidentally killed it - whoops (I'm not very good at keeping things alive).
So I bought a faux Moth orchid branch from Freedom and stuck it into the same pot which used to hold the real one, what do you think, can you tell?
So that's my hall table. I'd love to get a rectangular silver tray, sort of like a small butlers tray and place it in front of the orchid, where we can put our mail etc, as this spot often becomes a quick dumping area for things as we walk in the door.
So if I see one at the Vinnies then I'll buy it but I also have to bare in mind that things can't be placed in reach of certain little hands that like to grab and destroy...
Yes people, don't be fooled by those puppy dog eyes, my little bundle of love likes to go on search and destroy missions at every opportunity :)
Have a lovely day everyone!!!
I love when you share parts of your lovely home - makes me feel like I've actually been to the house of my lovely friend Janette :) I love your little hall table and your display. The orchid definitely looks real - if you hadn't revealed it wasn't I've never have guessed. I love that you have Glen's parents wedding photo displayed in the original frame. I've often admired your little Eiffel Tower. I think a tray would be a good idea - they're always handy for spots that become 'dumping grounds' like our kitchen bench :) As for your little cheeky monkey, Grace is the same, nothing is safe anymore! xx
ReplyDeleteYour home is gorgeous Janette and I love this corner of it:) Love the photo of Glen's parent's on their wedding day:) Now when it comes to your little search and destroyer.....I don't believe you ;) That face is just too cute to be involved in any such thing!!! Hope you have a wonderful Thursday. Hugs to both you and Will ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous Janette, and I'm with Amanda - it's almost like popping in for a visit! I had a chuckle about your orchid - my sister thought she bought a faux version, until the flower started to wilt and then fell off - we gave her a hard time for ages! Just don't let it get dusty - it kind of gives it away in my experience! As for your little cherub, I don't believe a word, just look at that little face! K xx
ReplyDeleteYour little boy is gorgeous, he has great eyes...look out girls when he is older!!! Love your orchid. What anice way to be greeted when you walk in the front door!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely spot Janette! I have the same bird and eiffel tower :) I love the mirror too. Im also a fan of photos of loved ones displayed.xx
ReplyDeleteI would never have guessed that your orchid wasn't real! Your hall table display looks lovely and the tray would be a great idea, there always seems to be a spot in the house where everything gets dumped as you walk in so why not make it a pretty spot! xx
ReplyDeleteJanette...lovely as always. And darn it, I saw a silver tray at Vinnies yesterday that would have been perfect! As I have no hall to speak of I am insanely jealous of anyone who does. Beautiful photo of your in-laws and as for that little angel of yours...what can I say! I do believe you though about the search and destroy. My now 22 year old looked that angelic as well and was a weapon of mass destruction when left to his own devices! Have a terrific day x
ReplyDeletehey j i would never of known that orchid was not real, and i don't know how people keep them alive {do i admit to killing 3 now} my last one is on it's last legs.......love the photos, and talking about trays i collect them from trash'n'treasure markets, i have a tray your welcome to have, although i've kept tray with handles and am in the process of painting it, i have two other silver trays, let me know lisa xox
ReplyDeleteThat's why God makes these little ones so cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the peek inside your lovely home! And the little guy -- he DOES look so cute! I had to laugh out loud at your term "search and destroy"! HIM??? No, never... :)

ReplyDeleteJanette - you are truly beautiful. Obviously, we didn't get the elated news that we were hoping for, however, we will persevere. We are taking care of each other and looking at the silver lining. We are focusing on what we have which is soooo much. Lily is the centre of our world. We are blessed.
ReplyDeleteI love your search and destroy anecdotes - so cute and funny. What an adorable, little man.

Hi Janette - Tried to send email and comment just then. Technical prob from my end.
ReplyDeleteI will try and reiterate what I just said, firstly, Janette, you are truly beautiful!
No, we didn't get the elated news that we were hoping for, however, we are looking for that elusive silver lining and are valuing, appreciating and being grateful for the beautiful, little cherub that we have.
We will persevere, however, we are so lucky and so blessed, with our Lily. Just never hoped for her to be an only child.
Not sure why my email wouldn't send. I will try again.
Your adorable little man and his grab and destroy missions are just priceless! Enjoy your little bundle of mischief. He is so cute!

I love your 'corner of my home' posts Janette. They are such a lovely insight. I adore these orchids and kept one alive successfully for a few years - don't ask me how! However I would never have guessed that yours wasn't real, so maybe i should 'try' again!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely little tableau and I agree that a silver tray would look wonderful added to it. The orchid looks real by the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. What a great little corner. You'll have to share your apple and rhubarb crumble recipe because I've got both of those right now crying to be made into something delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love how your displayed "things" are so meaningful & all have a story. I think that is what makes a house a home. illy the cuddly xo
