I need to get my party mojo back..... HELP!

You know how it is, you get all excited about something then after a while the excitement dies down.... that's how I'm feeling about my 30th Birthday party which is just over a month away and I've done nothing about it!!!

No invites, no guest list, nothing bought..... the only thing I've done is decide on the theme and venue. It's going to be the above cocktail party theme at home.

So I googled a few party images to get me back in the party mood...


I might go dress shopping for a cute little cocktail dress...
(If someone could just order me legs like those that would be great too...)

So please help! If you have any great party tips, advice, it would be much appreciated.

Cherry Blossoms and Silver Trays

Do you remember this post where I showed you our hall table and said that I would like to get a little tray to put our mail and papers on to keep it tidy?

Well the SUPER duper lovely Lisa from Ledamae who I've also posted about before here, offered me one of her silver trays from her collection. I KNOW!!!! How sweet is she?!?!

And when Lisa emailed me pics of the tray and of other trays, she showed me how she had sprayed some of them white before. So I couldn't help myself I left the tray silver for about 2weeks then I just had to spray it white too and here it is....

Isn't the change amazing? I like both the silver and the white but I think the white suits my house better and really brings out the details in the edge of the tray. All you have to do is spray it with a spray paint which is anti rust, metal spray which has a self primer in it.

I bought a pretty paper weight on the weekend from Bed Bath n Table to go on it.


The little bubba hand in motions in the pic below gives you some idea of it's lovely proportions, not too big, not too small.


And the beautiful Cherry Blossoms in the vase in the photo above, I picked them from the edge of the bush near our house where there is a tree growing wild (not a very indigenous species to be growing in a National Park) but I'm enjoying them in our house!

A corner of my home

Ok so I'm determined to show you the good the bad and the UGLY!

So today's 'A corner of my home' post is our bathroom.

Just warning you that the images in this blog post may offend your sense of aesthetics, especially if you are not a big fan of PINK.


The only change we've really made to the bathroom was replacing the 60's white plastic tap sets to some silver ones.

And the only thing I have on my to-do list for the bathroom is get a new mirror custom made with a slight bevelled edge to be stuck onto the cabinet door and replace the current one which has the hideous maroon coloured tiles around it.

The other thing we could look at doing is replacing the weird coloured shower screen with a white one or a semi frameless one. We replaced the shower screens in our last apartment and the transformation was great. But the thing is, in the end we're still stuck with a super daggy bathroom and we really don't want to put any money into a room which is perfectly functional.

The walls in our bathroom and laundry are asbestos so we're not about to go cracking into any tiles to re tile. I've looked into tile paint to paint over the pink and those ugly tiles around the bath but the paint is very expensive and I'm not sure about how long it would look good for. Anyone used tile paint in a bathroom before? How did it go?

So I think our bathroom will be staying pretty much as is until we figure out what we're doing with the house. Anyone have any SUPER, SUPER, SUPER cheap ideas for me to help undagify it?

Someone who is oblivious to the pink is this little man...


That's a tin of sardines in his hand btw ?!?!?!

And I'm sure if we have a little girl one day, she will love the pink bathroom :)

DIY - Sisal rope art via Design*Sponge

Good morning everyone!

Feel like a little DIY project? Well look at what I stumbled across on Design*Sponge...

Sisal Rope Art! Very cool hey, and looks quite easy from the online tutorial.

You can also make it as a place mat/table runner type of thing...

There is a real revival of rope-y sort of crafts isn't there. I'm seeing crochet, knitting, macrame etc coming back everywhere. In all the home/design mags etc.

My Mum used to have a Macrame owl in our family room when I was really young, you know the type, it sits on a stick. Also a Macrame hanging pot holder thingy.

This little piggy went to market...

We went to the Frenchs Forest markets yesterday and had a lovely time!

Here is my little piggy striding along through the hustle and bustle of the busy markets with his 'teddy backpack' aka toddler lead on so that we didn't loose him.

The Frenchs Forest markets have lots of organic fruit and veg (at great prices) and lots of yummy hot food stands and delicious coffee, cake, dips, hand made soaps, clothes, toys etc.

There is also a kids section with two jumping castles. A big one for the bigger kids and a little one with netting around it for toddlers. So Will had his first time ever on a jumping castle and he loved it!

We also bought a new addition to our vegie garden, a garlic chive plant.
