ABCD Meet Up

Last night I went to the first ever Sydney ABCD Meet Up organised by the very sweet Steph from Bondville (it was so nice to meet her in person) and Lisa from theredthread. Over 30 bloggers turned out for the event!

My new bud Kate from Another Donkey Design and I went together (she is my nearby neighbour - so cool!)

I got to have a great chat with some lovely bloggers such as Jaclyn, Leanne, Amanda, Sarah and Jess. It was a lovely evening of blogging, crafty banter.

There was even a goodie bag... we were asked to bring along 30 things for the bags - I was very slack and only included a business card but there was some awesome stuff.... here is Minky surrounding himself in all the goodie bag loveliness :)

For info on future ABCD MeetUps, join the facebook fan page here.

How was your Friday? Ahhhh.... almost the weekend!

Had a very bad night last night as Will had a bad bout of croup and coughed till 4am! So I'm pretty much a walking zombie. Looking forward to chilling out over the weekend.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

P.S. oh and ABCD stands for 'Artists, Bloggers, Crafters & Designers' in case you were wondering.

Glamour

Do you ever just feel like a bit of glamour???
Well I do today so here is a bit of old style glam with my own interpretation, to brighten your day!

"Oh it's so hard being this beautiful"

"Does this vignette clash with my dress?"

"It won't happen over night, but it will happen"

All the guys in this photo are thinking "I'm trying to get close to this girl but her damn petticoat is getting in the way!"

"Dress - Check, Hair done - Check, Botox - Check"

Wishing you a glam day,

In the Press - Shop Girl Mag

One of my stockists, MiniStyle was so lovely to get my 'Hometown & Cities' print featured in the second ever issue of Shop Girl Magazine.

Here it is in their beach style bedroom.

If you've got a tween girl then grab a copy of Shop Girl.
It is full of fantastic clothes, swimwear, accessories and decor for your little Miss.
I wish half the stuff came in my size! :)

And thank you all for your lovely well wishes for Will's first day at Little School yesterday. It was an absolute hit with him, he has such a fun day and his teachers were all so surprise at just how well he took to it and had fun playing etc.

Here he is lying on the bathroom floor with Woofie as I ran his bath (he had paint all over him from his artistic masterpieces on the clear easel) he NEVER lies down in the day so he was very tuckered out from his big day.

I'm just so happy that he's taken to it so well and I think next week will be a lot easier for me.

Have a lovely day everyone,

First Day

Here is my little darling ready to get in the car and go off to Little School with his brand new Skip Hop Owl backpack on. Which contains his new cot sheets, his 'Woofie' (comforter toy), his wide brim hat ('No hat, No play'), a change of clothes and a bottle in case he needs settling - everything is labelled.

The drop off went well, only a little cry from Will... a few more tears from me but I'm now under control and I've decided to take myself out for a nice breakfast as I had been too nervous to eat but now I'm starving!

Thank you all for your white paint colour recommendations yesterday, I'm going to report back to my Sis-in-law with my 'findings' :)

Have a great day everyone,

White Walls...

Over the weekend my sister-in-law and I were analysing white paint colours for her new house.

I love white as you know, but there is one way to get yourself confused in 10 seconds flat and that's analysing white paint swatches.

Anyway, here are some pics of rooms with white walls which I love, aren't they great!?!?!

I love those colours, and that framed fabric artwork is gorgeous isn't it!!!

What a soothing room, I love all the white/cream tones in this room.

Very sophisticated..

Black, white and blue, you can never go wrong with that combo.

Ok so this one isn't white but it looks like the same blue I have in my home and still love.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

And on another note, here are the bunny cupcakes I decorated for Billy's 1st birthday party.

I have to admit that I ran out of time on Saturday to bake so I just cheated and bought the cupcakes which had little blue and pink flowers on top, took the flowers off carefully with a toothpick then stuck the lollies on . I put green food colouring through dessicated coconut to be grass and then placed the flowers and mini M&Ms to look like a flowering field.
The kids loved them.

And here is the birthday boy, 'Billy Bun-bun Baker', sorry not a great photo...

How was your weekend and do you have any white paint recommendations for me???

Have a lovely day,

A party for a Rabbit!

This afternoon we are going to a 1st birthday party for one of our extended family members...

His name is Billy Bun-bun Baker and he is a black miniature lop rabbit and he's very cute! We received an invitation a few weeks ago made by my niece to come to Billy's first birthday party, how could we say no!

So I'm thinking of making Bunny cupcakes...... hmmmm... how am I going to do this?
Well here is some inspiration I found via google images.

So cute aren't they!
I'm sure mine will not look as fab as these but at least it's given me some ideas, I'm thinking that marsh mellows and mini M&Ms are going on the shopping list as well as some desiccated coconut and little cake decorating balls.

If they end up looking like rabbits then I might post pics but don't hold your breath :)

Oh and whats the perfect birthday present for a rabbit you might ask? Well a bag of carrots of course! Better go wrap them now actually!

What have you got planned for your Saturday?

Whatever it is I hope you have a great day,

Cosmo Pregnancy & Ohdeedoh

It must be my lucky week as my Bedtime Bus Roll Poster was also featured in the latest 'Cosmo Pregnancy' mag via one of my lovely stockists The Princess and the Pea.

My World Map was also spotted and kindly credited in an Ohdeedoh nursery tour this week. Check it out, what a gorgeous imaginative nursery.

You can take a look at more pictures from little Charlotte's room at Ohdeedoh here.

Have a wonderful day everyone, oh and Will LOVED his new circus tent, check out the smile!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone,

DIY circus tent

Yay, I just finished it!!!
Last night and today I've been working on a 'circus play/reading tent' for Will and here it is, I hung it from the gum tree in our backyard...

I bought the stripy fabric from Ikea for $14.95 and I had the white fabric in my big box of material.

I got the Hoola Hoop from Targe for $6 and the string/ribbons were already in my sewing box.
I can't wait for him to wake up from his midday nap so I can show him and we can play in it.

I think we will be spending a lot of time reading in our new cosy circus tent!!!

I used and adapted instructions on how to make it from this fantastic book 'Cool Spaces for Kids' which I bought recently.

Better go, I'm off to play in 'my' tent!!!

Have a great afternoon,

Wordless Wednesday

Ok, so it's Wordless Wednesday so I'll try to keep this short but 'Thank you' so much for your lovely comments yesterday after my little 'Mummy Meltdown'... your words of wisdom, support and advice cheered me up and I feel so much better. No tears today and I just watched Will play at 'little school' orientation this morning with such gratitude and pride. So thank you lovely ladies!!!

Hugs and kisses to you all,

Our very big morning!

Will and I have had a very BIG morning today and I really need to blog about it, to help me through my feelings...

You see we had our first orientation morning this morning as Will is starting 'little school' one day a week... yep, *sniff, sniff* my baby is growing up!

I don't think there has ever been a child more ready to take his first steps into the big wide world as our little William. He is the most social, happy, active, adventure seeking little boy!

And I don't think there has ever been a mother more 'un-ready' as me to watch her baby become Mr Independent - *more sniff, sniffs*.

Just look at him, so happy playing, discovering, chatting in his babble to the other kids.

I know this is just the next step in our lives together and it's the right step for both of us (don't ask me how I've managed to entertain him and run my business at the same time over the last few months because all I can say is that it's been hectic) But I think it's just a big thing to get my head around that my little baby isn't a baby anymore :(

And I am so lucky that I've been able to stay at home with him and spend all that wonderful time with him, I just always thought it would keep going like that forever you know?

I know I'm being silly.... it's just one day a week for crying out loud... you'd think he was going off to the army or something with the way I feel right now. But I guess a mother's love is a very big thing isn't it!

So anyway, enough of my blubbering!

Thanks for letting me vent about it and thank you for your lovely messages re real living yesterday.

Have a great day,

In the press - Real Living Mag

Very exciting day today as the November issue of Real Living went on sale today so I raced out to get myself a copy as my new 'Morning Bus Roll Poster' is in the pages of the Kids room feature - YAY!

Thank you SO much to Deb and the real living team and to the ever so talented Marie Nichols for including my print in my all time favourite mag. It's feels so funny for me to have a piece of my work in the mag I used to work on and know so well.

You may recognise a few other bloggers in this issue too. Louise from Table Tonic is on the cover - lucky girl! And my friend Lisa from Ledamae's house is in the letter to editor page too!

So if that's not enough reason to rush out and grab a copy then I don't know what is :)

Wishing you all as equally a wonderful day as what I'm having!
